Midweek Services

We don’t just have services on Sundays. In fact we also have  services every day. The sound of the bell ringing is the sign that Mass is about to take place and that the church is open and you are welcome to come in.

It is the duty and joy of the church to offer up daily prayer and worship to God. Our midweek services are short, calm and reflective. They are a good way to start or finish the day.

Our usual pattern of midweek services is:

Morning Prayer

A short 15-minute service to start the day usually beginning with 15 minutes of silent prayer.

Usually said Monday to Friday at 8.30am, but please check with the clergy beforehand if you would like to attend.

Mass and Evening Prayer

We read psalms, listen to scripture and celebrate the Holy Mass, to be strengthened by the Blessed Sacrament. The service lasts about 30 minutes. Visitors are welcome to hear Mass from the anchorhold.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays &  Fridays at 5.30pm.

Mass & Morning Prayer

Celebrated in the anchorhold.

Saturdays at 9.30am.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament & Evening Prayer

An oasis of calm in a busy week: half and hour of silent prayer in the presence of Jesus in  the Blessed Sacrament. Christ has so much to tell us but do we stop and try to listen?  This is the perfect opportunity.

Wednesdays at 5.30pm

A said Mass at which particular prayer-requests may be offered.

Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

Rosary and Evening Prayer

In praying the rosary we ask the Virgin Mary to join her prayers with ours.

We occupy our mouths with our prayers and our fingers with the beads so that our hearts may be directed to Christ. Praying the rosary is especially good when we are perturbed and find it hard to concentrate.

Saturdays at 4pm, May to September, followed by Evening Prayer.

Stations of the Cross

Meditation on the suffering of Jesus as we walk the Way of the Cross around the church. Followed by a short Mass.

Fridays in Lent at 5.30pm.
